Planning a party? Can't decide what type or when to send out your party invitations? Well, to start with you need to decide who is coming to your party. Is this going to be a big event or something smaller? Either or provides with different challenges. A smaller party will require less invites, it'll be opposite with a larger party.

The choice of your party size will effect your party invitations. With any party you need to give enough time for everyone to rearrange their schedule if they wish to come. You might even want to send out some invites earlier if you know someone that won't be in town in two weeks before. Go a head send out your invite before they leave. That way they can know your party plans.

Deciding on your party theme will help you decide on what kind of party invitations you need to send out. From old 20's themes to rock and even country will give you great ideas for interesting invitations. This way you can show the invited guests a little of what they will expect when they show up at your party!

If you want you can even add an RSVP to your party invitations. This way you'll know how many to plan for if you plan on having a smaller party. You want everyone to have a good time, so you need to make sure that you're planning a party everyone will have a good time at. Make sure that each person will feel comfortable at your party; you don't want someone to not have a good time when they thought they would.

Baby shower games are a great way to help your guests to get to know one another and they are a fun way to pass the time. The great thing about baby shower games is that they can be enjoyed by everyone from great-grandmothers to teens. Some baby shower games are quiet while others are loud and vocal. Before you add in the baby shower games, you need to decide how long you want the shower to last. You need to plan on about 2-4 hours for the baby shower if you add in some games. Know the baby shower audience. Some people just like to sit and catch up with old friends or family members while others enjoy playing games. Here are five creative baby shower games to help you get started:

Baby Truth or Dare

Do you have some people that absolutely love to play trivia games? Baby truth or dare is the ideal game for you. Some of the questions to ask should include questions from family members like the grandma or sisters. Talk to the expectant mother as well and ask a few questions like what she is planning to name the baby, when the due date is, what the sex of the baby is, etc. Ask these questions for the truth or dare game. The guest that is able to successful answer the question will get a prize. If they don't get it right, they have to take on a dare.

Measure up Mommy

Always talk to the expectant mother about this game because some women don't like to have their bellies measured for everyone else to find out. To measure up mommy, your guests will each predict how big her belly is. Give them all toilet paper to use to estimate how many squares of toilet paper it will take to go around the new mommy's belly. Once everyone has their toilet paper ready, each guest gets the opportunity to take their toilet paper and wrap it around her belly to see who is the closest. It's a fun game for a mommy to be that has a good sense of humor. You can also use ribbon if you don't want to waste your toilet paper.

Name that Baby Food

Grab a few different jars of baby food and take the labels off and number them. Be sure to write down what the correct ingredients are for each jar of baby food. Pass around the baby food and have your baby shower guests try to guess what flavor of baby food is in the jar. The person that is able to get all of the jars correctly or the person that gets the highest number correct is the winner.

Baby items from A to Z

Print out a sheet of paper that has all the letters of the alphabet on it and pass them out to your guests. Give them about 3 minutes to write down a baby-related item that starts with each letter of the alphabet. You do need to get some baby-related items for harder letters like Z and X so you can tell your guests what some are in case they ask "what baby item starts with X?" The person that is able to get the highest number of baby items on the paper is the winner.

Theme Games

If you have chosen a baby shower theme, be sure to use games that are closely related to it. For example, if you are doing a bed time theme, you can do a singing game where each guest has to remember a song that they used when they rocked their babies to sleep. This is a fun way to see what songs other moms have used.

The very first birthday in a child's life is probably the most special and the biggest celebration during childhood. It's been the year with the most changes. They've gone from sleeping through most of the day to playing right through the afternoon. They've gone from bottles to cups. And they've gone from crawling to walking. A party of this magnitude deserves plenty of planning and thought put into it.

For invitations, pick a theme you would like to use for the party. Winnie the Pooh is a very popular choice for younger children. Or you could pick something that is cute and whimsical like a ladybug or a butterfly theme. Bring the party back to nature by setting the party up outside or at a park. Make sure to buy lots of film and break out the video camera for this memorable occasion.

Save all of the cards you receive from guests and place them in a book along with the pictures. Your little one will enjoy being able to look back at their first birthday and see all of the people who were there to witness the first fistfuls of cake.

Even though your child is too young to do some of the party games, you can still provide things to do for your guests. Plan on getting a pull string piñata for your child's first birthday party that will match your theme. A one year old child can handle this easy to do party game. Only use toys you would allow a one year old child to have as treasures for the piñata. Leave out small pieces of candy or small toys. Or you might have guests who are old enough to enjoy a hearty piñata. In which case, there would be nothing wrong with supplying two piñatas. By keeping smaller children away from this activity, older children can have their fun and be rewarded with tasty treats.
